Canada eh!

T-minus 24 hours and we'll be at Heathrow eh!

Bags are packed, all paperwork completed, Visa still in date from our last visit, just for our own peace of mind Covid tests taken and negative and we're all set to go.

Business class here we come!

We are so excited, it's not every day you get to go business class as our journeys never seem to be longer than 2 hours and anything under 6 hours would be a waste but these flights are over 8 hours so it's the only way to fly after the first time.

When we went in March 2020 we went standard class and on the way there we were so excited and adrenalin rushing we didn't care about the seats and the journey was over before we knew it but on the way back it was terrible being in a regular seat for that long as the excitement of coming home is never there. Also i caught the first round of full blown Covid which wasn't fully understood at that time.

This time we are doing it in comfort for Sian's 50th.

We have the use of the Maple Leaf lounge in Heathrow first as our flight isn't until the afternoon so we can make the most of the relaxing lounge before we leave also if any delays its a nice place to be.

The Maple Leaf Lounge.

Now do we eat and drink in the lounge or hold out for our meal in Business Class.
The good thing with business class is you can have your inflight meal when you want it, not at the time they come around.

Our menu for our flight. Also a choice of free drinks including beer, spirits and champagne, Ooh la la.

I have been trying to find the best picture of our seats and i think this shows it off best.
We have 2 central seats so we can chat. The seats come with free Headphones, clean care+ kit, pillows & quilt, water bottle, wifi and over 7000 hours of movies and TV, not going to need that many hours to be honest lol.

Yes they are lay flat bed seats.......and sleep!

We couldn't get a direct flight to Calgary unfortunately but we have on return so we connect at Toronto which is fine as again we can use the business class lounge in between connections and if any delays or cancellations couldn't think of a better place to be, you never know, but the connection flights are every 90 mins so even if ours was missed or cancelled we have 4 more flights that night to transfer on to but all flights have been all systems go the past 2 weeks so i think we'll be fine.

Then on to our apartment and settle in for a blissfully relaxing and exciting 2 weeks.

So why a two bedroom apartment just for the 2 of us, WHY NOT? 😛
The second bedroom is always good to have to store your bags, clothes and just use it as a changing room keeping the bedroom your using tidy.
Yes there is a bathroom but a bathrooms a bathroom, we know what a bathroom looks like.
The apartment is just one street away from the main bar street and 15 mins walk from Downtown Calgary centre and 25 mins walk to the Calgary Stampede area which we have booked seats twice for the 10 days its there, first time is the daytime rodeo, second time is the final night event.

The Calgary Stampede has been named "The Greatest outdoor show on Earth".

It takes up a huge area of Calgary, the last time we were there we had the whole area to ourselves, we saw not one person during a walk in the day.

The Rodeo/roping/chuck wagon racing race course and arena.

The night time event which we are booked in for on it's final night.

Along with that we have the Zoo again as all the animals were freezing their butts off last time and a bit boring, well it was i think at one point -24 deg.
Visiting the Calgary winter Olympics park from 1988 where Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards made his famous ski jump for GB, its all still there as they still use it during the winter.
And last but not least if we can get transport there as it's a difficult place to get to High River where the awesome "Tin Star" starring Tim Roth was filmed.
Oh and the Cardiff Devils owners are from Calgary and they always do a player signing and announcement during the Stampede and Brian Parker the one owner has told us to contact him when we're out there after we had a beer with him in Switzerland. I don't like to impose so we'll see.

So it's a fun packed 2 weeks, see, i keep telling you, our holidays are never boring pool/beach/booze/sleep/hangover holidays, we always want to see, eat, drink and experience our destinations.

So now until we get back folks..................................

Love All, Serve All, Peace All, Kevlar Out eh!
