And it's adventure time again folks!
Well.....we hope so anyway. What the hell is going on with all these flights?
Keeping an eye on flight tracker to Milan as there are 5-6 flights a day to the airport we're flying in to. Only one cancelled today and our time flight went out 30 mins late, 3 cancelled tomorrow but our time flight still going and 1 cancelled Thursday but again our time flight still going so fingers crossed we we'll know Wednesday if our flight is going or not but it's looking promising at the moment.
Staying at Gatwick on the Thursday and if flight is cancelled on the Friday we will just go to London for the 4 nights instead.
The good thing about if it is cancelled is that it's only 4 weeks today until we go to Canada for 2 weeks from Heathrow and Air Canada from Heathrow has had no problems at all, we'd just like to know in advance if not going not last minute cancelation but hey, we always sort something out like we did with Paris and that was an amazing break away.
So, what other news do I have.........not much really.
We had a cultural weekend in Cardiff staying at the Park Plaza Hotel then going to see Alan Partridge on the Thursday and Rock of Ages on the Saturday. It was a really good weekend.
Alan Partridge was Alan Partridge, cringe worthy, non PC and brilliant, you either love or hate him and we both love him.
This is now our second time going to see Rock of ages in Cardiff and my third time.
The first time wasn't so good, that was in London, Second in Cardiff was brilliant and third time was really good. We think it's down to whoever plays the part of Lonny. All the other characters are great and can interchange with any actor but Lonny makes the show. Just look at the film, Russel Brand plays Lonny, he's absolute SHITE! The film itself, terrible compared to the stage show and the ending has been made to fit the film and it's biggest star Tiny Tom Cruise, it's just sugar dripping awful.
We don't like taking pictures while shows are on but here's the stage 😂
As you already know we always go to Barkers Cafe before any of our trips away, it's a sort of tradition but this time we went before going home after our cultural weekend.
I was desperate to try their "Elvis Breakfast" which is peanut butter, bacon, bananas and maple syrup on a thick slab of brown toast.
It tasted sooooooo good but i had a problem eating it due to so much peanut butter that when eating it i looked like a PG Tips chimp (millennials look it up on the interweb) my mouth was sticking together. It also got a bit sickly when i was 2 thirds through it so i left a third of the toast with peanut butter and just ate the bacon and bananas. Don't believe me.......well here it is.
The peanut butter looked like it had just been poured on, must have been without a doubt half a jar on the one slab of toast.
Sian's option was the wiser choice.
Now this year is Sian's 50th Birthday, I know, she doesn't look it but it makes me look good when we're walking hand in hand down the street. 😉
Sian loves it, she embraces it and doesn't bother her at all which I love about her.
So because it's a special birthday i have decided to make it Sian's birthday year, trips away, parties, events and a huge holiday.
Last weekend it was time to involve the family and have a get together meal to celebrate. Sian's actual birthday is the day we travel up to Gatwick.
For the family meal we booked in to a new Greek restaurant in Cardiff called "Corfu by night"
Very traditional looking indeed, we like!
What to have to eat? We decided to do what we used to do on Zakynthos and order a meze. We miss Zakynthos, not so much the bar but we will be back, WATCH THIS SPACE!
Anyway, we ordered a few dishes which started with dolmades and saganaki. These were so good.
Then we followed that up with a sharing meze, prawn saganaki, mussels in wine and garlic sauce, calamari, octopus and salted black cod along with 3 different breads, garlic aioli and houmous.
All tasted amazing, I could have eaten it all again, in fact we are, the day after we get back from Milan.
Sian's family had been down during the daytime to set up surprises for her, balloons, banners and a cake.
Once we had finished eating Greek musicians came on to a stage and started playing, we could have been back on the island it felt exactly the same apart from the grey clouds outside. Then the musicians stopped and Sian's favourite Queen song came on "Las Palabras de Amor" and out came a cake made to look like Freddie Mercury's famous yellow leather jacket, it was stunning. As they walked towards the table with the cake Sian started to cry and it was a lovely touching moment for someone who does so much for people and I think sometimes that gets forgotten what she does but this was a nice surprise for her.
Sian's special cake.
After we were all fed and done I took Sian out for a final drink before we head home, just the 2 of us, a nice way to finish a good night.
So that's what we've been up to since the last update, not much really but we're always doing something, our life is never boring.
So just a little update to keep you going until we arrive back from little trip away and then it's travel adventure time.
And finally an awwwwwww moment, SQUID!
When rabbits lay like this it means they feel safe, happy and content, she so freaking cute!
She likes the sun like her mum and dad.
Who would want children when you could have a Squidly! 😆🐰
So until after Milan.....hopefully.........
Serve All, Love All, Peace All, Kevlar Out!
